New Trap Field Construction Update

New trap field

Getting ready to start construction of our second trap field as soon as weather permits. We will also complete our second skeet field this summer. Currently we are open for both trap and skeet shooting at our first field. Shooting on weekends and will open more days once the weather improves. That’s Big White Ski Hill in the background.

New Trap field

Ready to start laying out new trap field. Thanks to Bob and Greg for getting it ready. We should be shooting trap here by summer. Members will be hard at work as soon as the weather allows. Last summer we were very productive in finishing up our first field. This summer we will complete a new trap field and a new skeet field giving us lots of room for new shooters and shooting competitions.

Trap Shooting Kelowna – Blasting The Entrance

Trap Shooting Kelowna – we found an excellent site close to Kelowna then started to build a proper access and prepare the trap and skeet fields. A tremendous amount of work was done by our members clearing the trees, blasting and building the road and doing the same for our fields to provide an exceptional layout for our shooters. By August of 2019 we will have 2 trap fields and 2 skeet fields.

Blasting the Trap Field

Once we had the road complete we needed to level the Trap Field.

Come on up for a visit and see how far we’ve come. Trap and Skeet shooting on the weekends with more shooting days as the weather improves. Any questions call one of our members.

February 24 Trap Turkey Shoot

The sun came out and the trap guns showed up for our second Trap Turkey shoot of 2019. We had shooters from Kelowna, Rock Creek and Salmon Arm in attendance. 23 prizes were handed out. Last months big winner, Steve Coutts got off to a slower start Sunday, but managed to get his eye on the target and head home with some prizes and a smile on his face.

These shoots are a fun and relaxed way to test your shooting skills and meet new members of the COSS Club as well as participants from other shotgun shooting clubs in the Okanagan area. If you are new to trap shooting we will gladly introduce you to how the shoots work and get you off to a good, fun start. Once initiated, you’ll find that we can participate in similar shoots at nearby clubs, as our members frequently travel to these other clubs to participate in their events.

Thanks to all who came out to enjoy the fun. Our next Trap Turkey Shoot will be March 24. This will be our last Turkey Shoot until November. We will be shooting trap and skeet regularly on Saturdays and will add shoot days as it warms up in Kelowna. Check out our calendar as we add shooting days and in the meantime, if you have any questions about our club or events, please email or call for more information.

  • C class or higher in one gun, currently or previously (with minimum of 300 NSSA tournament targets)

The cost is $300. Associates will not be listed on the website. The primary purpose of the Associate Instructor Program is to promote youth shooting in a safe, conscientious manner, while providing the sound fundamentals of skeet shooting. These credentials are for teaching youth and not for profit. Must be 18 years of age. The first year of membership with the NSSA is free under the Complimentary Limited Membership (CLM) program. Once a “C” class is acquired and the Chief Instructor is informed, a Level I patch and certificate will be sent for $25.00, and that person’s name will be added to NSSA website.  (Must shoot a minimum of 300 NSSA registered targets, or five events, to establish a “C” classification, no exceptions.)

Our World Skeet Champion – Bob Larue

Bob LaRue of Kelowna, BC and president of the Central Okanagan Shotgun Sports Club (COSSC), returned this fall from Texas where he compiled an amazing record competing against the best skeet shooters in the world! Bob won a number of medals including the world “senior” Class High Over All Champion and the world “AA” Class High Over All Champion. Eight of Bob’s medals are shown with two more to come! Bob was interviewed at the COSSC location upon his return by Global BC News where a demonstration of Mr. LaRue’s skeet shooting skills was aptly made for the television crew!
